Here at last...

HOME. We were flooded by a rush of emotions stepping off the plane; mostly relief and excitement with a tinge of sadness thinking of our family and friends we had to leave behind. We picked up our car in Kampala when we came from the airport Thursday. Then Friday morning we set out for our new hometown Mbarara which is 4 hours west. We actually drove ourselves here! First time!... Driving on the opposite side of the road is strange, and a little scary. I feel like Steven is going to hit everything!  Thankfully he is an excellent driver.

It was beautiful journey from Kampala to Mbarara. A mountainous backdrop with staggered villages. A nice surprise awaited us as we neared a reserve; a herd of wild zebra grazing near the road! Of course we pulled over. I felt like a little kid at the zoo for the first time. "Zebra!!!"

Until we find our own place we are staying in the home of 2 Japanese need greaters* while they are in Japan working to return. We like it here. It's very tidy and conveniently located near the kingdom hall, and Derek and Jennifer missionaries from Arizona. We are on the second floor.
Here is a tiny cutie who lives at our compound. She's an orphan. Her mother abandoned her, and the land owner took her in. I promised her we would play a game together soon.

*Need Greater- For those unfamiliar with the term, a need greater is a person who moves where the need is great for teaching the good news of the Bible, usually in a foreign country. They are like missionaries but are self funded. Some work secular jobs remotely, others take up local work, and most return home for a time to work and save money.

Currently in Mbarara there are about 12 need greaters, including Steven and I. We have the option to work online thankfully!
