A Note About Jehovah's Witnesses

   The other day without any notice Steven and I received a very heartfelt note from a young man Steven has been studying the Bible with. His name is Santino and he just turned 14. Santino is a Sudanese refugee. When he was a little boy his father died in the war, then later he was abandoned by his mother, whom he hasn't seen since 2006. He now lives with an aunt here in Mbarara. You can find him faithfully attending every meeting on his own, and constantly asking for new books to read. He finishes reading anything you give him about the Bible in about 3 days! There aren't enough books in the library! If he has a day off school he request to study twice in a week. Before we came he studied with a brother from Japan. Our very first meeting here Santino sat in our row, and now he's with us ever since. He is one of the sweetest kids, and he has our hearts especially after this note....
A NOTE ABOUT JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES By: Santino

My names is Santino. I live in Mbarara where there are Jehovah's Witnesses. Jehovah's Witnesses are the best people I ever had. They are the only people who make me happy. Because of my Bible study, I think I am the happiest person in the world. And I have a lot of brothers and sisters who care about me such as Niki, Barrak, Alex, John and my Bible teacher Steven. I think he is the best teacher ever. I came without a father, but now Jehovah is my father. He is the best dad ever. I would not have all these things but through Jehovah's Witnesses. Thanks to them.

    Give Santino our love from his mother, father, sister and brother (Mark 10:29, 30). Until we are able to meet some day I just want to remind him his family extends across all man made borders.

It's with heavy hearts and teary eyes that we announce our departure from Uganda. Soon we will be packing up, saying goodbyes, and moving on. Being here has been life changing. This experience and these people will be memories we forever cherish.  But but why? This has been some of the best times in our life. But it's not exactly easy... We came to Uganda with the goal of 1 year. Well, a year came and went! After that the goal was to make it as long as we could with the money we have in had in the bank and energy we had in our tank. Both, especially the second, are running  almost  empty, but just enough to be excited for what's next. We made it almost 2 years, and when we reflect on that we are overjoyed. What Isaiah said...

Today we celebrate 6 months in Uganda. We have had a very exciting few weeks. Here are some highlights with some scriptures from Isaiah setting the theme. "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the one bringing good news, The one proclaiming peace, The one bringing good news of something better..."  - Isaiah 52:7  A few weeks ago we set out to hike up a nearby mountain. To bring that "good news of something better" to the people there. We crossed the river to make our way up the mountains.  Teaching people as we journeyed up. Our group at the top. Built a little something to show we were there and then jumped for joy because we have the best life ever!  “I, Jehovah, am your God, the One teaching you to benefit yourself, the One causing you to tread in the way in which you should walk.”  -Isaiah 48:17 It was a great blessing to attend the Pioneer Service School December 7-12. The Best Feeling Ever...

It’s rewarding to be back into our routine in Uganda! Things quickly became terrifically busy for us. We feel as if our feet haven’t touched the ground, although our tired feet would hastily disagree. March 31st we were pleased to commemorate the death of Jesus Christ as millions around the world did. Steven had the responsibility of organizing the program and delivering the memorial talk. It was a bit stressful, but I’m extremely proud of him. He gave a fantastic easy to understand talk. From speaking to many in attendance, I saw it glorified the depth of Jesus sacrifice and increased appreciation for the greatest gift ever given. He was surely glad when it was over though! All together 268 people attended here. We were pleased to have many Bible students present. We also have our very first visitor to Uganda. Steven’s cousin from South Carolina, Hunter.
