"Step Over Into Macedonia"

   After journeying near and far the apostle Paul wanted to know where he should preach and teach next. A message from God came “step over into Macedonia”. -Acts 16:9. With that in mind every year here in Uganda and across Africa Jehovah's Witnesses engage in what we call “Macedonia campaigns”. On Saturdays during the summer special efforts are made to visit more remote towns and villages to teach the people there.

  What a blessing it was to be a part of it for our first time! The people were hungry for spiritual truths, which made it a true honor to take part in feeding them Bible knowledge. Many children followed us curiously butting-in on each new conversation. “More books! More books! More books plllllease?!” Their mismatched tattered clothes and dusty bear-feet were reminders of how much these people need hope of something better.

  The message of God's kingdom and it's blessing brought light to their eyes and a smile to their faces. Their reaction in turn, brings added energy to our steps and great purpose to our lives. Despite the challenges life in a developing country pose, these things make it all worth it.

      The response is AMAZING! You start talking about paradise and you attract a crowd... show a video and you got people of all ages shoving to get a look at the screen. :)

It's with heavy hearts and teary eyes that we announce our departure from Uganda. Soon we will be packing up, saying goodbyes, and moving on. Being here has been life changing. This experience and these people will be memories we forever cherish.  But but why? This has been some of the best times in our life. But it's not exactly easy... We came to Uganda with the goal of 1 year. Well, a year came and went! After that the goal was to make it as long as we could with the money we have in had in the bank and energy we had in our tank. Both, especially the second, are running  almost  empty, but just enough to be excited for what's next. We made it almost 2 years, and when we reflect on that we are overjoyed. What Isaiah said...

Today we celebrate 6 months in Uganda. We have had a very exciting few weeks. Here are some highlights with some scriptures from Isaiah setting the theme. "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the one bringing good news, The one proclaiming peace, The one bringing good news of something better..."  - Isaiah 52:7  A few weeks ago we set out to hike up a nearby mountain. To bring that "good news of something better" to the people there. We crossed the river to make our way up the mountains.  Teaching people as we journeyed up. Our group at the top. Built a little something to show we were there and then jumped for joy because we have the best life ever!  “I, Jehovah, am your God, the One teaching you to benefit yourself, the One causing you to tread in the way in which you should walk.”  -Isaiah 48:17 It was a great blessing to attend the Pioneer Service School December 7-12. The Best Feeling Ever...

It’s rewarding to be back into our routine in Uganda! Things quickly became terrifically busy for us. We feel as if our feet haven’t touched the ground, although our tired feet would hastily disagree. March 31st we were pleased to commemorate the death of Jesus Christ as millions around the world did. Steven had the responsibility of organizing the program and delivering the memorial talk. It was a bit stressful, but I’m extremely proud of him. He gave a fantastic easy to understand talk. From speaking to many in attendance, I saw it glorified the depth of Jesus sacrifice and increased appreciation for the greatest gift ever given. He was surely glad when it was over though! All together 268 people attended here. We were pleased to have many Bible students present. We also have our very first visitor to Uganda. Steven’s cousin from South Carolina, Hunter.
